- What is Italian ice? — Italian ice is a frozen dessert made from real fruit, water, and cane sugar — like sorbet but lighter and slightly icier, the American cousin of a Sicilian granita. Bernie’s adds homemade hand-torched meringue on top.
- Is Italian ice the same as shaved ice or snow cones? — Not really. Shaved ice and snow cones are plain ice with flavored syrup. Bernie’s Italian ice is churned from real fruit, so the flavor is in the ice itself — nothing artificial, nothing overly sweet.
- How much Italian ice do we need for our event? — Tell us your headcount and the occasion and we’ll size the menu for you.
- Is Bernie’s Italian ice dairy-free and gluten-free? — Yes. It’s made dairy-free and gluten-free. A few specialty flavors may contain trace amounts of dairy — we’ll flag those for you.
